The Big Issue Classroom is a social enterprise initiative of The Big Issue, which provides homeless and disadvantaged Australians with work, allowing them to earn an income, regain confidence, and move on with their lives.
These one hour workshops are led by skilled facilitators who help students learn about The Big Issue and discover facts about homelessness in Australia. Through age-appropriate storytelling and discussion, students are invited to think about the future of their communities and actions they can take to promote social justice.
Students will hear from a specially-trained guest speaker who has experienced homelessness and subsequently found employment at The Big Issue.
Students will also participate in a tower-building game to learn about homelessness in Australia.
