This is the perfect workshop for students who are looking to develop their debating skills!
Our Conquering Debating program runs as either a full-day workshop or over the course of eight weeks, and takes students through the four essential elements of debating – case structure, argumentation, rebuttal and persuasive speaking.
After going through the rules and roles in the first sessions, students will:
- cover a new concept each session, with practical activities to help students consolidate what they have learned;
- a practice debate in the final session (or at the end of the day) so students can put their newfound skills into practice; and
- the opportunity to regularly present and receive individualised feedback.
There are multiple options for running this program, each with a different number of coaches (and leading to a different price):
- Small Groups – with a recommended student ratio of 8:1 to ensure that everyone can present at least once every session.
- Class Groups – larger classes of 15 – 25 students, where students will all get multiple opportunities to present over the course of the workshop (but not every session).
- Symposium – for very large groups of students, we could run this as a symposium, with two coaches running a set of lecture-style sessions. Everyone will have at least one or two opportunities to present during the workshop, but likely not much more.
