Online music making that is accessible & relevant to everyone. A great opportunity for remote learning or students in regional/remote areas.
In this inspiring online workshop students will experience how a contemporary song is made while working with a professional music producer to write and record an original track of their own. Using the online Digital Audio Workstation Bandlab, participants explore technology and an incredible library of sound to compose their own unique work. They write and record lyrics, create rhythms and orchestrate big melodies. From Hip Hop to Dance (and anything in between) this medium truly resonates with students of all ages, and they do not need any musical experience or skills to engage fully. The workshop is a great way to encourage creative communication and confidence, and inspire positivity and team building within groups. It brings together auditory and kinaesthetic learning in an exciting session that often results in a finished song to take home.
The workshop also engages with key music syllabus outcomes for all learning stages – including organising sound/composing and listening. The youngest learners will improvise, experiment and imitate whilst they interact with song, a range of sounds and instrumentals. Students in stages 4 to 6 will dive in and experiment with the extraordinary possibilities available through composing with technology. While providing a unique experience of making music within the popular culture context, it’s also an opportunity to learn about professional applications of tools of the trade with producers working in the music industry – relevant to anyone interested in a musical career no matter what genre or style they are interested in.
